Our class will be doing the Mass this week. If your child has a reading part, he/she received the reading before Thanksgiving break. We will be practicing both in our classroom and in the church this week, but please also practice at home!

Katy Sanderlin, a senior at Bishop Kelley High School, will be working with our class during religion until Christmas. Katy is taking Senior Catechist as her religion class this quarter. She will be observing as well as teaching and sharing her faith with the students during religion class.

October 3rd - 7th

Please remember to turn in permission slips for our field trip to Bishop Kelley on Wednesday for the play. We do not need drivers.

Those students who donated change will get free dress on Tuesday.

October Calendar: An October calendar will be added to your child's SMILE Folder. They will receive a sticker for everyday they have their BEST FRIEND SIGNED BY A PARENT and SMILE FOLDER at school. At the end of each week they will receive a reward if they have both of them everyday!

We would like to welcome Watson to our class! We now have 20 students (if you are sending birthday treats later on this year).

As we wrapped up our animal unit in science, we discussed how animals have different ways to protect themselves and one of those is by camouflage. Students made butterflies to "blend in" around the classroom. Below are a few of those butterflies. Can you find all of the butterflies?

September 5th-9th

Spelling: Unit 3 - Spelling words email was sent out last Friday. Pretest Tuesday and Test Friday

Math: We will begin "Math Logs" this week. As mentioned at Back to School Night, students will be given a Math Log each Tuesday. They must practice their math facts 3 of the 7 nights (15 min. each night) and get a parent signature. The math log will be due the following Tuesday. Students should practice the set of facts they are working on for their timed test (addition, subtraction, or multiplication).

This week we will be celebrating "Greek Week" as a school. Ms. Iten and Mrs. Oakley traveled to Greece this summer exploring many sites. We will be participating in a few activities throughout the week as we learn more about Greece!

Remember to bring snack and water each day!

Welcome!

We had a great first week of school and I am looking forward to having the best school year ever!!
Students will bring home their S.M.I.L.E. (Students Managing Information and Learning Everyday) folders each night. Homework, graded work, and other important information will be put in the S.M.I.L.E. Folder.
Students will also bring home their "Best Friend" assignment planner Monday-Thursday. Please sign this each night to show you have seen their "best friend" and completed homework.
Back to School Night is August 29th @6:00. Lots of information will be discussed on this night - I look forward to seeing you there.
Spirit Dress: August 23rd. Students may wear a St. Pius T-shirt on Tuesday!

We are beginning a new enrichment program in our class this week. The two main components we will focus on are empathy and self-control. There will be an email/note coming home in the middle of the week to explain this in more detail. Math - Unit 7 Test Friday Spelling - Unit 31 Science - Space Unit begins! Religion - We will be working on the self safety course this week. This is a diocesan required course. The 3rd grade self-safety curriculum consists of safe-touches, physical abuse, and stranger danger. Students may come home with questions about these topics that we will be discussing in class.

Welcome Back!

The students have a list of words that we will be doing activities with during the week, but there is NO SPELLING TEST this week since it is a short week.

We will continue reading The Mouse and The Motorcycle. Please make sure your child is reading aloud at night.

Our nutrition unit will continue in science. We will have a food pyramid quiz next week.

Multiplication Log will start again next Tuesday. (Januart 14th) Please continue to practice facts at home.

Thank you for the Christmas gifts and your help with the Christmas party! I appreciate your thoughtfulness! A special thank you to Regan's mom and Robbie's mom for doing a great job on planning our party - we had a great time!
